Marketing Agency Website

The owner now updates the website directly, without waiting on a developer, and the site finally matches the brand. This client is a boutique marketing firm whose old site was so awkward to edit that keeping it current had quietly stopped.

The situation

Agencies have a particular problem. Prospects judge your marketing by your own marketing. A site that doesn't match the quality of the work isn't a neutral cost. It argues against you before the first call.

The site was also hard to maintain, and that is how websites die. Not in one decision, but in a hundred small updates that never get made because the process is annoying.

The constraints

  • The owner had to be able to run it. A beautiful site the owner has to email us to change is worse than a good site the owner controls. That was the real brief.
  • The site is part of the pitch. For a marketing firm, the website is the first sample of work a prospect sees, so "good enough" wasn't.
  • Existing content had to come across whole. A move that leaves half the old content behind, or links pointing nowhere, just moves the problem.

What we did

  • A full rebuild so the site reads at the same level as the brand.
  • A move to an easy-to-edit website system, set up so the owner can make changes without a developer.
  • A clean launch. No half-moved content and no broken links left as somebody else’s problem.

The outcome

The owner now edits the site directly. The site looks like it belongs to the same business as the brand. And the owner kept us on for ongoing support after launch, which for a client who no longer needs us to make changes is a choice rather than a dependency. That’s the point.

What we'd do next

  • Compare which pages people find through Google on the new site against the old one, and fix any page that lost its way in.
  • Give the owner a short checklist for everyday edits (page titles, short descriptions, image descriptions) so the site stays in good shape between support calls.

We did the same kind of checks on our own site when we rebuilt it. That write-up is our own website rebuild.
