Online Store Build and Automation

Every paid order now reaches the order sheet, the paperwork and the person packing it automatically, with nobody retyping anything. We built this store and still run it day to day. It is not a client project, and we say so plainly.

Store name withheld.

The situation

The store is a dropshipping ecommerce brand. It started life under another name, and we rebranded it.

We keep running it for a simple reason. It is easy to recommend conversion work and automation when somebody else pays for it and somebody else finds out whether it worked. Running a store day to day takes that comfort away. If a recommendation on this site is a bad one, we find out here first.

The constraints

  • Our money, our time. Every hour spent on the store is an hour not billed to a client, so the work had to be the kind that keeps paying back.
  • The store software has limits. Some product groups can’t be put in order by hand, so arranging them the way we wanted needed extra setup work.
  • A small operation. Nobody should be copying order details from one screen to another. Retyping is where addresses go wrong.

What we did

  • Rebrand and redesign. The category is full of stores that look thrown together. Looking credible is most of the battle, so the design came first.
  • Product pages rebuilt for trust. We answered the questions a buyer actually has where they're asking them, instead of padding out the description.
  • Bundles and product order set up properly. Bundles were created, and product groups now show in the order we chose, even where the store software wouldn’t allow it by hand.
  • Content and housekeeping. Blog posts written to a spec, and the store's legal policies put in place.
  • Tracking set up. Ad tracking, visitor recordings and an email signup are on the store.
  • AI-made images. Product collages and blog images are made with AI tools. We also make short videos for the store, but we’re not claiming any results from them.

How an order moves now

  1. A customer pays.
  2. The order is checked automatically, so fake or duplicate orders are ignored.
  3. A new row is added to the order sheet and the order paperwork is made.
  4. A message goes to whoever packs the order, so they know it has arrived.

The outcome

We haven't published sales or conversion figures for the store yet, so there are none on this page. What changed is easier to describe. A paid order now reaches the order sheet, the paperwork and the person packing it without anyone retyping it. Products sit in the order we chose. And the store trades under one brand instead of two.

What we'd do next

  • Publish the store’s sales figures for a stated date range, so this page has numbers you can check.
  • Build follow-up emails beyond the signup.
  • Keep doing conversion and SEO work on the live store. There is no launch date to point at and walk away from, which is why it's the most honest example of how we work.

Disclosure. This is not a client project: we built the store and run it ourselves. Treat it as evidence of what we can build (the store, product pages, tracking, automation) and not as an independent client reference. The independent references are on the other case studies.

Store that looks the part but isn't converting? That's a diagnosis, not a redesign.
